Kate Noelle "Katie" Holmes, born on December 18, 1978, in Toledo, Ohio, is an accomplished American actress and director. She began her career in the entertainment industry as a teen model, which quickly led to her breakout role in Ang Lee's acclaimed film, The Ice Storm. However, it was her portrayal of Joey Potter in the popular teen drama Dawson's Creek from 1998 to 2003 that catapulted her to international stardom.
