Katie Holmes
Kate Noelle "Katie" Holmes, born on December 18, 1978, in Toledo, Ohio, is an accomplished American actress and director. She began her career in the entertainment industry as a teen model, which quickly led to her breakout role in Ang Lee's acclaimed film, The Ice Storm. However, it was her portrayal of Joey Potter in the popular teen drama Dawson's Creek from 1998 to 2003 that catapulted her to international stardom. During the show's run, she also appeared in a number of films, such as Doug Liman's Go, Curtis Hanson's Wonder Boys, and Joel Schumacher's Phone Booth.
Holmes's life took a dramatic turn when she began dating actor Tom Cruise while promoting her role in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins. Their whirlwind romance garnered extensive media attention, leading to a quick engagement and her conversion to Scientology. They welcomed their daughter, Suri, before marrying in November 2006.
After filing for divorce in July 2012, Holmes gained custody of Suri and relocated to New York City, returning to her Catholic roots. In the years following her separation, she made a successful return to the screen with roles in films like The Giver, Woman in Gold, and Logan Lucky, while also appearing on Showtime's Ray Donovan. In 2016, she marked her directorial debut with the poignant mother-daughter film All We Had, showcasing her diverse talents in the industry.
