Harp McGuire, originally named Henry Herbert McGuire, was born on November 1, 1921, in Tennessee, USA. He carved a niche for himself as a talented actor, with notable appearances in films such as *On the Beach* (1959), *The Twilight Zone* (1959), and *Outlaws* (1960). McGuire's career, however, flourished primarily in the realm of Australian radio, where he gained significant recognition.

His most celebrated role came as Randy Stone in the Australian adaptation of the NBC radio serial *Night Beat*, produced by Grace Gibson Radio Productions. This role catapulted him to prominence during the golden age of radio in Australia. Additionally, McGuire hosted "The Clock," a horror and supernatural anthology series that aired from 1955 to 1956. This series was a spin-off of the original American version that ran from 1946 to 1948, with a later television adaptation from 1949 to 1952.

"The Clock" consisted of 52 episodes and utilized scripts from its American counterpart, but featured an entirely Australian cast and crew, with McGuire as the sole exception, bringing his Southern charm to the series. Tragically, Harp McGuire passed away on October 21, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, leaving behind a legacy in both radio and film that continues to be remembered.
