John Asher

John Mallory Asher, born on January 13, 1971, is a multifaceted American actor, director, and screenwriter best recognized for his portrayal of Gary in the USA Network's television adaptation of the cult classic film, *Weird Science*. Asher comes from a background steeped in show business; he is the biological son of actor Edward Mallory and was raised by his adoptive father, the notable producer and director William Asher, who was married to his mother, actress Joyce Bulifant, from 1976 to 1993.

In his personal life, John married Vanessa Lee in 1994, though the union ended in 1996. He later wed actress Jenny McCarthy on September 11, 1999. Together, they welcomed their son, Evan Joseph Asher, on May 18, 2002, who was diagnosed with autism, a cause that McCarthy and Asher have been vocal about. However, the couple's marriage came to a close in September 2005.
