Dick Butkus
Richard Marvin Butkus (December 9, 1942 - October 5, 2023) was a celebrated American football player, sports analyst, and actor. He made his mark as a middle linebacker for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL) from 1965 to 1973. Throughout his illustrious career, Butkus earned invitations to the Pro Bowl eight times and was selected as a first-team All-Pro on six occasions. His peers honored him twice with the title of NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Butkus was distinguished for his aggressive tackling and unwavering determination on the field, earning a reputation as one of the most formidable and influential linebackers in the history of professional football.
