Jared Harris
Jared Francis Harris, born on August 24, 1961, is a distinguished British actor known for his contributions to film, television, and theater. He is the son of the renowned Irish actor Richard Harris and the Welsh actress Elizabeth Rees-Williams.
Harris entered the world in Hammersmith, London, and pursued his education in drama and literature at Duke University in North Carolina. Following this, he honed his craft at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
He made his cinematic debut in 1989 with a minor part in The Rachel Papers. His film career includes appearances in several notable movies such as The Last of the Mohicans (1992), Natural Born Killers (1994), Smoke (1995), Happiness (1998), and How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog (2000).
In 2007, Harris achieved recognition for his role as Lane Pryce in the acclaimed AMC series Mad Men, earning a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
Beyond film, he has left a mark on television with significant roles in shows like Fringe, The Crown, and The Expanse. His portrayal of Valery Legasov in the HBO miniseries Chernobyl garnered him the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor in 2019.
On stage, Harris has been featured in productions such as The Crucible, The Cherry Orchard, and The Homecoming, while also directing works like The Glass Menagerie and The Birthday Party.
