Norma Crane

Norma Crane (November 10, 1928 — September 28, 1973) was a talented actress renowned for her contributions to stage, film, and television. She is perhaps best remembered for her portrayal of Golde in the iconic 1971 film adaptation of *Fiddler on the Roof*, a role that showcased her remarkable range and emotional depth. Crane also made notable appearances in films such as *They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!* and *Penelope*.

Born Norma Anna Bella Zuckerman in New York City and raised in El Paso, Texas, Crane's passion for acting led her to join Elia Kazan's prestigious Actors Studio. She made her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's acclaimed play *The Crucible*, marking the beginning of a distinguished career.

During the 1950s, Crane became a familiar face on live television, gaining prominence through her performance in a televised adaptation of George Orwell's *1984*. She showcased her versatility by guest-starring in various series, including a memorable role in the 1959 episode of *Have Gun – Will Travel*, where she played Eileen Tuttle.

Crane's career, marked by her powerful performances and dedication to her craft, left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry before her untimely passing in 1973.
