Robert Hirsch
Robert Hirsch (July 26, 1925 – November 16, 2017) was a distinguished French actor who made a significant mark in the world of theater and film. He became a member of the prestigious Comédie-Française in 1952, showcasing his exceptional talent on some of the most revered stages in France.
Hirsch's film career was highlighted by notable performances, including a memorable role in the classic adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. His portrayal in Hiver 54, l'abbé Pierre earned him the César Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 1990, solidifying his reputation as a skilled actor.
In the mid-2000s, he took to the stage in a French version of Harold Pinter's The Caretaker, known as Le gardien, which was performed at both Théâtre de l'Oeuvre and Théâtre de Paris. His passion for acting continued into his later years; in April 2011, he approached playwright Florian Zeller to create a role specifically for him. This collaboration resulted in the poignant play Le Père, which premiered at Le Théâtre Hébertot in Paris in September 2012. At the remarkable age of 87, Hirsch captivated audiences as André, demonstrating his enduring talent and commitment to his craft.
