Simon MacCorkindale
Simon Charles Pendered MacCorkindale (February 12, 1952 – October 14, 2010) was a versatile British actor, director, writer, and producer. His formative years were marked by frequent relocations due to his father's career as a Royal Air Force officer. Although he aspired to follow in his father's footsteps, his poor eyesight led him to pursue a different path in the arts. After honing his craft at the Theatre of Arts in London, MacCorkindale made his West End debut in 1974, launching a successful acting career.
He gained significant recognition with his roles in acclaimed television series such as I, Claudius and Jesus of Nazareth. His portrayal of Simon Doyle in the classic film Death on the Nile marked a pivotal moment in his career, paving the way for his move to the United States. There, he featured in a range of films and TV shows, including Quatermass, The Riddle of the Sands, The Sword and the Sorcerer, and Jaws 3-D.
In 1983, he took on the lead role of Dr. Jonathan Chase in the cult series Manimal, later becoming known for his portrayal of lawyer Greg Reardon in the long-running soap Falcon Crest. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, MacCorkindale directed and produced various projects through his company, Amy International Artists, including the film Stealing Heaven. After a three-year stint in Canada on the series Counterstrike, he returned to the UK in 2002, portraying Harry Harper in the popular BBC medical drama Casualty until 2008.
