Peeter Volkonski
Peeter Volkonski, born on September 12, 1954, in Tallinn, is a multifaceted Estonian artist known for his contributions to music, theatre, and film. As a prominent figure in the Estonian rock scene, he gained recognition as a member of the punk band Propeller, which he co-founded in 1978. The band played a crucial role in shaping the local music landscape during a transformative era in Estonia.
In addition to his musical career, Volkonski ventured into politics in 2015 when he ran as the Free Party candidate for the Tartu constituency in the Estonian parliamentary elections. Though he garnered 916 votes, he did not secure a seat in parliament.
Volkonski hails from a distinguished lineage; his paternal roots trace back to the noble Volkonsky family of Russia. His father, Prince Andrei Volkonsky, was a renowned composer and harpsichordist, while his grandfather, Prince Mikhail Volkonsky, was an esteemed opera baritone. Further back, his ancestry connects to the Rurikid dynasty through his great-great-great-grandfather, Prince Pyotr Mikhailovich Volkonsky.
