Nelson Xavier

Nelson Agostini Xavier (August 30, 1941 – May 10, 2017) was a prominent Brazilian actor whose illustrious career spanned nearly six decades. He made his mark in the film industry by featuring in over 95 films and television productions from 1959 until his passing in 2017.

One of his most significant roles was in the acclaimed 1964 film "Os Fuzis," which garnered international recognition by winning the Silver Bear Extraordinary Jury Prize at the 14th Berlin International Film Festival. This performance solidified Xavier's reputation as a talented actor in Brazilian cinema.

In addition to acting, Xavier showcased his versatility in filmmaking by co-directing "A Queda" in 1976 alongside Ruy Guerra. This film served as a sequel to "Os Fuzis" and was also well-received at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it secured the Silver Bear – Special Jury Prize during its 28th edition.
