Renowned for his portrayal of villains in action films across Asia, Joly has shared the screen with some of the region's biggest stars, including Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat, Andy Lau, Takeshi Kaneshiro, and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Notably, he played Decimus alongside John Cusack and Adrien Brody in Jackie Chan’s film "Dragon Blade," which also featured French singer and actress Lorie Pester.

Recently, Joly has taken on significant roles in projects such as Juno Mak's "Sons of the Neon Night" (Chinese: 風林火山), "The White Storm 2 - Drug Lords" (Chinese: 扫毒2天地对决), and the Chinese sci-fi action film "Ultimate Code" (Chinese: 终极代码), where he stars as the main antagonist alongside a talented Chinese cast and fellow French actor David Belle, a pioneer of Parkour.

Beyond his acting career, Joly is an advocate for independent cinema, frequently writing screenplays and directing short films in Hong Kong.
