Carolyn Seymour, born Carolyn von Benckendorf on November 6, 1947, in Buckinghamshire, England, is a distinguished actress celebrated for her role as Abby Grant in the iconic BBC series Survivors. Raised by a Russian father and an Irish mother, she ventured into acting with her early television appearance as Jenny in the series Take Three Girls. Her film career took off when she portrayed Zita in the 1972 movie Steptoe and Son, sharing the screen with Harry H. Corbett and Wilfrid Brambell. That same year, she gained further recognition for her performance as Grace Gurney in The Ruling Class, acting alongside the legendary Peter O'Toole.

Although she left Survivors after its first season due to creative differences, Seymour continued to build her career with notable guest spots on popular shows such as Space: 1999, Hart to Hart, and Magnum, P.I. Her move to the United States opened doors to appearances in a variety of series, including Cagney & Lacey, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and ER.
