William Petersen
William Louis Petersen is a prominent American actor and producer, renowned for his portrayal of Dr. Gilbert "Gil" Grissom on the acclaimed CBS series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He was born in Evanston, Illinois, and initially pursued a football scholarship at Idaho State University. It was there that he discovered his passion for acting, quickly becoming involved in the drama department. Following his time at university, Petersen ventured to the Basque country, where he embraced the local culture and performed as a Shakespearean actor, a period that significantly shaped his artistic sensibilities.
Petersen's career took off with his role as Richard Chance in the 1985 thriller To Live and Die in L.A., which led to his acclaimed performance as Will Graham in Michael Mann’s Manhunter, the first film adaptation featuring the infamous Hannibal Lecter character.
