Laura Antonelli
Laura Antonelli, born Laura Antonaz on November 28, 1941, in Pola, Kingdom of Italy (now Pula, Croatia), was a prominent Italian actress celebrated for her work in cinema from 1964 to 1991. She gained widespread recognition for her role in the 1973 film *Malizia*, a significant milestone in her career.
Antonelli's early life was marked by upheaval as her family fled Yugoslavia after World War II, eventually settling in Naples where her father became a hospital administrator. Initially drawn to mathematics, she shifted her focus to gymnastics during her teenage years, excelling in rhythmic gymnastics, a pursuit her parents encouraged to help her gain confidence.
After earning her degree as a gymnastics instructor, Antonelli relocated to Rome, where her teaching position opened doors to the entertainment industry, leading her to modelling opportunities. She made her film debut in 1965 with *Le sedicenni*, although it went uncredited. Her American film appearance followed in 1966’s *Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs*.
Throughout her career, Antonelli starred in a mix of sex comedies and serious dramas, collaborating with notable directors such as Luchino Visconti. She transitioned to television in the late 1980s and concluded her film career with *Malizia 2000* in 1991.
Despite facing legal troubles in the early 1990s related to drug possession, which were later overturned, Antonelli remained a beloved figure in Italian cinema until her passing from a heart attack on June 22, 2015, at the age of 73.
