Pan Lingling
Pan Lingling is a distinguished actress whose career began in 1988 when she joined the former Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), following her graduation from the 8th Drama Artiste Training Course. She gained widespread recognition in 1991 for her role as the female lead in "Women of Substance," which marked MediaCorp TV's inaugural location shoot in China with a sprawling 130 episodes.
Lingling made headlines in 1992 by becoming the first MediaCorp (TCS) artist to feature in a regional film, portraying a psychoanalyst alongside global icon Jackie Chan in "Crime Story." Her breakthrough moment came in 2008 with the acclaimed drama “The Little Nyonya,” which showcased a Peranakan narrative spanning over seven decades and achieved the highest viewership ratings in Singaporean television history since 1994.
After two decades in the industry, Lingling received her first acting accolade at the Star Awards '11 for her portrayal of a kept woman in the hit series "Breakout." Her performance was also recognized at the Asia Television Awards 2011, where she was Highly Commended for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
In 2013, she faced a personal challenge with a breast cancer diagnosis, leading to a temporary hiatus from acting for surgery and treatment. However, she returned to the screen a year later, taking on her first English-speaking role in the police drama “Mata Mata 2.” Lingling continued to thrive, starring in the long-running dramas "118" and "1182" between 2014 and 2017, totaling 465 episodes. In 2018, she led the 150-episode drama "Reach for the Skies," further solidifying her popularity and earning her consecutive Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste awards at the Star Awards in 2018 and 2019.
