Reena Roy emerged as a prominent figure in Hindi cinema between 1972 and 1985, captivating audiences with her performances and charm. Born into a tumultuous family—her father a Muslim and her mother a Hindu—Reena navigated a challenging upbringing as the third of four siblings. She ventured into acting as a teenager, making her debut in the film "Nayi Duniya Naye Log" (1973), although it faced delays. However, she soon gained recognition with the successful film "Zaroorat" (1972), where her role earned her the nickname "Zaroorat Girl."

Her breakthrough came with "Jaise Ko Taisa" (1973), particularly noted for her memorable dance sequence in "Abke Sawan" alongside Jeetendra, which showcased her talent. Throughout the early 1970s, she appeared in various films, but it was the mid-1970s that solidified her status in the industry. The unexpected success of "Kalicharan" (1976) and "Zakhmee" (1975) made her a sought-after actress, especially after collaborating with Shatrughan Sinha, with whom she developed a notable on-screen and off-screen partnership.

Reena's career peaked with her iconic role in "Nagin" (1976), where she portrayed a vengeful serpent woman, a performance that earned her a Filmfare nomination for Best Actress. Collaborating with director Raj Kumar Kohli, she starred in several blockbuster films including "Jaani Dushman" (1979) and "Raaj Tilak" (1984), securing her place as one of the leading heroines of her era.
