Sergei Bodrov Jr.
Sergei Bodrov Jr. was a multifaceted talent in the arts, excelling as an actor, director, screenwriter, television host, and art historian. Born into a creative family, he was the son of renowned writer, screenwriter, and director Sergei Bodrov Sr. He completed his education at Moscow State University in 1993, graduating from the History Department with a focus on Art History. His academic journey culminated in 1998 when he defended his thesis on "Architecture in the Venetian Renaissance painting."
From 1996 to 1999, Bodrov served as a presenter for the television program "Vzglyad" on ORT, and in 2001, he participated as a host for the "Last Hero" program on Channel One. Bodrov's cinematic career began with his father's productions, starting with a minor role in “SIR / Freedom is Paradise” (1989) and eventually landing the leading role in “Prisoner of the Caucasus” (1996). He gained further acclaim for his portrayal of Danila Bagrov in Alexei Balabanov's films “Brother” (1997) and “Brother-2” (2000).
In 2001, he made his directorial debut with “Sisters,” followed by plans for a new project, a mystical drama titled “The Messenger.” Tragically, on the evening of September 20, 2002, Bodrov went missing in the Karmadon Gorge in North Ossetia while the film crew was shooting near the Kolka glacier.
