Yoshiko Tanaka
Yoshiko Tanaka (田中 好子, Tanaka Yoshiko; April 8, 1956 – April 21, 2011) was a celebrated Japanese actress and a prominent figure in the pop music scene as a member of the iconic girl group Candies. Known affectionately by her fans as "Sue," Tanaka rose to fame with Candies during the 1970s, captivating audiences until the group disbanded in 1978 at the peak of their popularity.
Born in Adachi, Tokyo, Tanaka's career spanned both music and film. She showcased her acting talent in notable roles, including her performance as Asuka Okouchi in the film Godzilla vs. Biollante. Her exceptional work earned her the prestigious Best Actress award at the 14th Hochi Film Award for her role in the critically acclaimed film Black Rain.
In her personal life, Tanaka married professional golfer Kazuo Odate in 1991. However, her life took a challenging turn when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. Despite her courageous battle with the illness, Tanaka's cancer returned in October 2010, leading to her untimely passing at the age of 55 on April 21, 2011. Tanaka's legacy continues to resonate in the hearts of her fans and the entertainment industry, remembered for her talent and vibrant spirit.
