Angelo Infanti
Angelo Infanti (February 16, 1939 – October 12, 2010) was a prominent Italian actor whose career spanned nearly five decades, featuring in over 90 films from 1961 until 2010. Born in Zagarolo, Italy, Infanti left a significant mark on the film industry before his passing in Tivoli, Italy, from cardiac arrest on October 12, 2010.
Infanti is perhaps most recognized by international audiences for his role as Fabrizio in the iconic film The Godfather. In this classic, he played the part of a bodyguard to Michael Corleone, who was in hiding in Sicily. Fabrizio's betrayal culminates in a tragic explosion that claims the life of Michael’s bride. While the character meets a violent end in Mario Puzo's novel, a film scene depicting Fabrizio's demise was filmed but ultimately excluded from the original release. This deleted scene later resurfaced in the 1977 television adaptation, The Godfather: A Novel for Television, which intertwined the narratives of the first two films and presented them chronologically, starting with Vito Andolini's youth in Sicily.
Infanti's contributions to cinema, especially through his unforgettable characters, have solidified his legacy in film history.
