Zhang Min, a talented actress and performer, began her journey in the arts after completing her education at Shanghai Oriental Middle School in 1973. Following her graduation, she took on a role in a department store located in the Luwan District of Shanghai, where she also worked at a small counter on Huaihai Road. Growing up in a family of actors, she was naturally drawn to the performing arts. Under the guidance of renowned voice actor Qiu Yuefeng, she honed her skills in recitation.

Zhang Min gained significant recognition for her performance in the drama "There is a Heat Outside the House," which marked a pivotal moment in her career. Her talent caught the eye of industry professionals, leading her to be cast in the film "Bashan Night Rain," produced by Shanghai Film Studio, where she portrayed a rural girl, earning critical acclaim for her performance. In 1982, she officially joined the Actor Troupe at Shanghai Film Studio, where she expanded her repertoire by participating in various films and television series.
