Ziad Bakri
Ziad Bakri is a distinguished Palestinian actor and director whose work has garnered international acclaim. He gained significant recognition for his performance in the film SCREWDRIVER, which had an impressive festival run, receiving nominations for Best Film at esteemed events such as the Venice International Film Festival, Malmo Arab Film Festival, and El Gouna Film Festival. SCREWDRIVER triumphed at the International Festival of Mediterranean Cinema in Montpellier, winning Best Film, and also secured accolades at the Bosphorus Film Festival. At the Mediterranean Film Festival of Tetouan, Bakri’s performance earned him the Best Actor award alongside the film's recognition as Best First Work.
Ziad also showcased his talent in the French-Greek feature THE BLIND SUN, which was well received on the festival circuit, earning him the Best Actor award at Fantasporto. In 2022, he appeared in the Netflix thriller THE WEEKEND AWAY, and in 2023, he took on a role in the Italian film PROFETI, directed by Alessio Gremonini, a celebrated filmmaker known for his award-winning screenplay.
Recently, Ziad completed filming THE STRANGERS' CASE, helmed by Brandt Anderson, whose previous film REFUGEE won accolades at the French Riviera Film Festival. Additionally, he is set to star in THE SAND CASTLE, directed by Emmy-nominated Matty Brown, alongside renowned actors Nadine Labaki and Zain Al Rafeea.
Beyond acting, Ziad is also an accomplished filmmaker; his short film THE SALT FISHERMAN premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival in 2011, earning him a nomination for Best Director.
