Grace Jones was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, to parents Marjorie and Robert W. Jones, the latter being a politician and an Apostolic minister. In 1965, her family moved to Syracuse, New York, taking Grace along with her brother Chris. Before rising to prominence as a model in New York City and Paris, Jones pursued her education in theatre at Onondaga Community College.
