Tamae Ando, born on August 8, 1976, in Arakawa, Tokyo, is a talented actress known for her diverse roles in film and television. She is married to Kuro Tanino, a prominent playwright and director affiliated with the theater group "Niwa Gekidan Penino," and the couple shares one child. Ando has been actively pursuing her acting career since 2001 and is represented by the talent agency MASH.

Raised in a family that owned a tonkatsu restaurant named "Donpei," which gained recognition through the drama "Kodoku no Gurume," Ando's early life was steeped in a unique culinary culture. She completed her education at Ogu Miyamae Elementary School, Ogu Hachiman Junior High School, and The Second Nihon University High School. Initially aspiring to be a diplomat, she enrolled in Sophia University's Foreign Languages program but ultimately decided to leave. She later graduated from Waseda University with a degree in Literature.

Ando's acting journey began when she joined the theater company "Pots Doll," where she honed her craft. Her first significant film role came in 2003 with "Vibrator," directed by Hiroki Ryuichi. The following year, she made her television debut. Although she departed from "Pots Doll" in 2007, Ando continues to engage with stage productions, with her latest performance occurring in 2015.
