Toula Stathopoulou
Toula Stathopoulou (1932 – July 19, 2006) was a distinguished Greek actress whose career flourished in the film industry starting in her late thirties. She made her cinematic debut in 1970 with "Representation," directed by Theodoros Angelopoulos, which marked the beginning of a celebrated journey in acting. Her performance in this film earned her the Best Actress award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, establishing her as a notable talent in Greek cinema.
Following her debut, Stathopoulou starred in Tonia Marketaki's "The Price of Love" in 1984 and appeared in "Children of Kronos," directed by G. Koras and Chr. Voupouras. Her remarkable ability to embody complex characters was further recognized when she received the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in "Lipotaktis" (1988), a collaboration with the same directors.
Stathopoulou's filmography includes significant works such as "Children of Saturn," "Landscape in the Mist," and "The Weeping Meadow." In addition to her film career, she showcased her talent in television with the series "Bourini" in 1987 and contributed to the theatrical scene, participating in the National Theater's production of "Invisible Troupe" by Iakovos Kambanellis. Stathopoulou passed away on July 19, 2006, at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional performances and a lasting impact on Greek arts.
