Dan Butler
Daniel Eugene Butler, born on December 2, 1954, is a prominent American actor and playwright, best recognized for his portrayal of Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe on the acclaimed television series Frasier.
Originally hailing from Huntington, Indiana, Butler spent his formative years in Fort Wayne. He is the son of Shirley, a dedicated homemaker, and Andrew Butler, a pharmacist. An openly gay individual, he made a significant mark in the theater world with his performance in Terrence McNally's 1989 play The Lisbon Traviata. Additionally, he penned an Off-Broadway play titled The Only Thing Worse You Could Have Told Me..., which draws its name from a statement allegedly made by his father at the time Butler came out.
While Butler has always been authentic about his sexuality, he publicly acknowledged it during an interview on Entertainment Tonight in 1994, even as he played a confidently heterosexual character on Frasier.
In his personal life, Butler shares a relationship with Richard Waterhouse, who is an acting teacher and director. Through his work and openness, Butler continues to be an influential figure in the arts, advocating for authenticity and representation in the entertainment industry.
