Shih Szu
Shih Szu, originally named Lei Qiu-Si, was born in Taiwan to parents from Hunan (Henan). Her career took off when she joined the renowned Shaw Brothers studio in 1970, where she quickly gained recognition as a formidable martial arts heroine. Her performances captivated a diverse audience, and the studio heralded her as a successor to the iconic Cheng Pei-Pei. Throughout her tenure at Shaw Brothers, Shih Szu starred in a series of memorable martial arts films, including "The Rescue," "The Lady Hermit," "Heroes of Sung," "The Villains," "The Bloody Scape," and "Lady of the Law." Her remarkable agility and fighting prowess solidified her status as one of the leading female martial arts stars of her time.
In 1980, she appeared in "A Deadly Secret," marking her final film with Shaw Brothers before relocating to Taiwan to continue her acting career. Despite her success and popularity in the industry, Shih Szu chose to retire from the public eye in the early 1980s, concluding a vibrant chapter in martial arts cinema. Her contributions to the genre and her influence on future generations of martial artists remain noteworthy, as she is remembered as a pioneering figure in the field.
