Blaine Gibson, born on February 11, 1918, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, was a pivotal figure in the realm of animation and sculpture. His artistic journey began at a young age and led him to study at the University of Colorado before he joined The Walt Disney Studios in 1939. Initially working as an in-between artist and assistant animator, he honed his skills in animation while taking evening sculpture classes at Pasadena City College. Gibson's contributions to Disney classics include **Fantasia, Bambi, Alice in Wonderland**, and **Sleeping Beauty**.

In 1954, a chance encounter with Walt Disney at a personal art exhibit showcasing his animal sculptures changed the trajectory of his career. Though hesitant to shift away from animation, he accepted Walt's invitation to work on special projects for Disneyland and soon transferred full-time to WED Enterprises in 1961. There, he spearheaded the sculpture department, making significant strides in three-dimensional animation.

Gibson's remarkable work led to the creation of numerous Audio-Animatronics® figures for iconic attractions like **Pirates of the Caribbean** and **the Haunted Mansion**. After nearly 45 years at Disney, he retired in 1983 but continued to lend his expertise to projects, including **The Great Movie Ride**. In recognition of his legacy, Blaine was named a Disney Legend in 1993 and crafted the beloved “Partners” statue of Walt and Mickey, now a familiar sight in Disneyland and other Disney parks worldwide. Gibson's artistic vision and influence remain an enduring part of Disney history.
