Patrick Dempsey
Patrick Galen Dempsey (born January 13, 1966) is an accomplished American actor and race car enthusiast. He is widely recognized for his portrayal of Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd in the popular television series Grey's Anatomy. Dempsey's acting career took off in the 1980s, featuring in a series of films such as Can't Buy Me Love (1987) and Loverboy (1989).
Throughout the 1990s, he primarily took on supporting roles in both film and television, including appearances in the thriller Outbreak (1995) and the horror sequel Scream 3 (2000), where he played Detective Mark Kincaid.
His career saw a resurgence with a leading role in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama (2002), which turned out to be a box office success. He continued to build his filmography with notable roles in Brother Bear 2 (2006), Enchanted (2007), Made of Honor (2008), Valentine's Day (2010), Flypaper (2011), Freedom Writers (2007), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), and Bridget Jones's Baby (2016).
In addition to his acting career, Dempsey is passionate about cars and racing. He boasts a collection of sports and vintage cars and participates in professional-amateur racing events, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Rolex 24 at Daytona, as well as the Ensenada SCORE Baja 1000. Before the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans, Dempsey expressed a desire to fully commit to motorsports, even considering stepping away from acting.
