Plot

Set against the backdrop of 1970s car racing, Hurley Haywood emerges as a cool, composed figure in a high-octane world. A five-time 24 Hours of Daytona champion and three-time Le Mans winner, he epitomizes the classic Hollywood hero, hailing from a respectable Midwestern family. However, the shadow of his tumultuous mentor, Peter Gregg, looms large, especially after Gregg's shocking suicide in 1980. Through a blend of archival footage and exclusive interviews, including insights from actor Patrick Dempsey, the documentary explores Haywood's struggles with identity and the question of acceptance for openly LGBT racers in motorsport.
