Dr. H. Wahyu Sardono, affectionately known as Dono Warkop, was a prominent Indonesian actor and comedian born on September 30, 1951, in Delanggu, Klaten, Central Java. He passed away at the age of 50 on December 30, 2001, in Jakarta after a battle with lung cancer. Standing at 167 cm, Dono became a beloved figure in Indonesian cinema, particularly noted for his performances in comedy films throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.

Dono’s journey in the arts began during his time at the University of Indonesia, where he was involved in editorial work for various newspapers, including Tribune and Salemba, primarily focusing on caricatures. After these publications ceased in 1974, he joined the Prambors Warung Kopi group, which he helped establish alongside fellow comedians Casinos, Indro, and Nanu. The group created a unique atmosphere reminiscent of a coffee shop on Prambors radio, where they entertained audiences with their humor.

Dono was also an active member of the University of Indonesia Nature Lovers Student Group (Mapala UI), along with his friends Casino and Nanu. This passion for nature was often reflected in the Warkop DKI films, which showcased their adventurous spirit and camaraderie. Through his impactful career, Dono left an indelible mark on the Indonesian entertainment industry, becoming an icon of laughter and joy for many.
