Michaela Pavlátová
Michaela Pavlátová, born on February 27, 1961, is a prominent Czech animator, film director, and educator renowned for her innovative contributions to the field of animation. Her remarkable talent was recognized when she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short Film for her work "Words, Words, Words" in 1991. Pavlátová's creativity was further celebrated when she won the Short Film Golden Bear at the 1995 Berlin International Film Festival for her film "Repete."
As a feminist experimental animator, Michaela's films delve into complex themes such as sexuality, gender dynamics, philosophy, and interpersonal relationships. Her unique perspective has made her a significant voice in contemporary animation. In addition to her personal projects, she has served as the art director for Wildbrain Inc., showcasing her versatility in the industry.
Currently, Pavlátová imparts her extensive knowledge by teaching animation at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Her teaching experience also extends to prestigious institutions such as the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague, the Academy of Art College, the Computer Arts Institute in San Francisco, and Harvard University.
