John Ashton
John David Ashton (February 22, 1948 – September 26, 2024) was a distinguished American actor celebrated primarily for his portrayal of Sergeant John Taggart in the acclaimed action-comedy franchise Beverly Hills Cop, which includes the original film released in 1984, its sequel in 1987, and the latest installment, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, in 2025, where he shared the screen with Eddie Murphy. A native of Springfield, Massachusetts, Ashton's interest in acting blossomed during his youth, leading him to pursue formal training at the University of Southern California's School of Theatre.
