Arthur Batanides

Arthur Batanides (April 9, 1923 – January 10, 2000) was a talented American actor known for his contributions to both film and television, hailing from Tacoma, Washington. His passion for acting blossomed during World War II, where he captivated fellow soldiers with his stand-up comedy routines while stationed in Europe. After the war, Batanides honed his craft at the Actors' Lab in Los Angeles, gaining significant experience on stage.

Batanides is perhaps best remembered for his role as the ill-fated Starfleet officer and geologist D'Amato in the iconic "Star Trek" episode titled "That Which Survives." His filmography boasts a variety of notable films, including "The Unearthly," "Violent Road," "The Leech Woman," "Man-Trap," "The Maltese Bippy," "Evil Roy Slade," and "Brannigan." Additionally, he portrayed Mr. Kirkland in four installments of the "Police Academy" series, marking the sixth film, "City Under Siege," as his final performance.
