Layla Olwy
Layla Olwy, born Leyla Ahmed E’lwy, is a celebrated Egyptian actress with a diverse heritage, as she has an Egyptian father and a Greek mother. Her artistic journey commenced at a young age, beginning with her work alongside Abla Fadeela on radio broadcasts and with Mama Samiha in children's television programming. After completing her education at French institutions, she graduated from the Faculty of Commerce in 1991.
Olwy's early career included small roles in films, but her talent truly shone when she captured the attention of notable actor Nour el-Shereef. This led to her breakout performance in the television series “Dimoo’ Fawq al-Haqiqa” (“Tears Over the Truth”), marking her transition into mature acting. She has also graced the stage in acclaimed productions such as “al-Brenseesa” (“The Princess”).
Throughout her career, Layla has received recognition at various festivals, including the Love Festival in 2002.
