Daniel Hugh Kelly
Daniel Hugh Kelly, the third of five siblings, was born into a family shaped by service; his father served as a police officer and detective while his mother was a dedicated social worker. Kelly completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Arts from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, before earning a Master of Fine Arts on a prestigious full scholarship at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
His career in the performing arts has been marked by a rich tapestry of experiences, including numerous appearances in off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway shows, particularly at renowned venues like the Public Theater and Second Stage. As a seasoned member of several regional theater companies, Kelly has graced the stages of the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Folger Theater, Arena Stage, and the Actors Theater of Louisville. He also toured with the National Players, the United States' oldest classical touring company.
On Broadway, Kelly earned acclaim for his roles as Brick in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," sharing the stage with renowned actress Kathleen Turner, and as Paul Verrall opposite Madeline Kahn in "Born Yesterday." In 2003, he made a notable appearance at the Mark Taper Theater Forum, where he originated the character Richard in Lisa Loomer’s play "Living Out." Through these diverse roles, Kelly has established himself as a versatile and accomplished figure in theater.
