Marge Redmond
Marjorie "Marge" Redmond (December 14, 1924 – February 10, 2020) was a talented American actress and singer, whose career spanned several decades in television, film, and theater. She is perhaps most recognized for her role as Sister Jacqueline on the beloved ABC series The Flying Nun, which aired from 1967 to 1970. Her outstanding performance earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series during the 1967-68 season.
In addition to her iconic role, Redmond delighted audiences with her portrayal of the wise innkeeper Sarah Tucker in a popular series of Cool Whip commercials during the 1970s. Her film credits include notable appearances in The Trouble with Angels (1966) and Alfred Hitchcock's Family Plot (1976), as well as Woody Allen's Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993).
Redmond's theatrical talents were showcased on Broadway, where she understudied for renowned actresses Angela Lansbury in Sweeney Todd and Judy Holliday in Bells Are Ringing. She also contributed to the 1981 production of Ronald Harwood's The Dresser and appeared Off-Broadway in Joan Vail Thorne's comedy The Exact Center of the Universe in 1999.
Marge Redmond passed away in February 2020 at the age of 95, though her death was not announced until May. Her legacy as a versatile performer continues to be celebrated by fans and fellow artists alike.
