Austin Pendleton

Austin Campbell Pendleton, born on March 27, 1940, is a distinguished American actor, playwright, theatre director, and educator. With a remarkable six-decade career, Pendleton has built a reputation as a versatile character actor in both film and theatre. His notable film appearances include roles in classics such as Catch-22 (1970), What's Up, Doc? (1972), and A Beautiful Mind (2001), the latter earning him a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. He also lent his voice to the beloved animated film Finding Nemo (2003).

Pendleton's theatrical achievements include a Tony Award nomination for Best Direction for the 1981 revival of The Little Foxes, along with two Drama Desk nominations and a Special Drama Desk Award in 2007. He won an Obie Award for Best Director for the 2011 revival of Three Sisters and has recently appeared in Broadway productions such as Choir Boy (2016) and The Minutes (2022).
