Bill Moores

Bill Moores, born on October 16, 1934, to parents George and Lillian Moore, inadvertently became known as Moores due to a clerical error on his birth certificate. He spent his early years in Old Swan and Huyton Quarry, eventually residing in Prescot, where he passed away on April 13, 2015, at the age of 80.

Moores launched his acting journey in local amateur dramatics, performing with groups like the Rainhill Garrick Society and the Rainhill Amateur Operatic Society. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Cedric, a comically inebriated barfly, in the beloved Liverpool sitcom *Watching*, which aired from 1987 to 1993. His television credits also include notable appearances in *Our Day Out* (1977), *The Spongers* (1978), *The Muscle Market* (1981), *Boys from the Blackstuff* (1982), *No Surrender* (1987), and *Riff-Raff* (1991).

In addition to his acting career, Moores took on a leadership role as the head of the Liverpool division of the actors' union Equity for several years. He was also a well-known figure behind the counter at HLS Motor Factors and KLS in Prescot. In his later years, he embraced the joy of performing by touring retirement homes with an acting troupe, bringing delight to audiences and leaving a lasting legacy in the local arts community.
