Line Renaud

Line Renaud, born Jacqueline Ente on July 2, 1928, in Pont-de-Nieppe, France, is a celebrated singer, actress, and dedicated AIDS activist whose illustrious career spans over eight decades. With a remarkable portfolio that includes 86 film and television appearances, 25 albums, and 114 singles, Renaud has established herself as a significant figure in the French entertainment industry. She has also graced the stage in 12 plays and authored or co-authored around 20 books. Notably, in 2022, she portrayed the lead role in the film *Driving Madeleine*.

Renaud's journey began in her childhood, nurtured by a musically inclined family. Her father's passion for music and her early singing competitions foreshadowed her future success. After auditioning at the Conservatoire de Lille, she adopted the stage name Jacqueline Ray and began her career with Radio Lille. Her breakout moment arrived with a performance on Radio Luxembourg, leading to a successful recording of "Ma Cabane au Canada," which earned her the prestigious Grand Prix du Disque.
