Bembol Roco
Rafael Aranda Roco, Jr., known widely as Bembol Roco, was born on November 20, 1953, in the Philippines. He is a distinguished actor celebrated for his versatile performances across film and television. Roco gained significant recognition for his powerful portrayal of Julio Madiaga in the landmark film "Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag" ("Manila in the Claws of Light"), a role that solidified his status in Philippine cinema.
In addition to his substantial contributions to local films, Roco made his mark internationally with a notable performance in the 1982 Australian-U.S. film "The Year of Living Dangerously." His distinct bald look often led him to inhabit villainous roles in action movies, while he showcased his range through various supporting characters. He also appeared in the popular television series "Sine Novela: Tinik sa Dibdib."
Bembol Roco is a proud father of twin sons, Felix and Dominic. In 2010, he took on a minor role in "Dagim," a Cinema One Original film directed by Joaquin Pedro Valdes, which explores the peculiar happenings in a remote mountain area.
Roco is particularly known for his collaboration with the acclaimed director Lino Brocka and is recognized as part of the "Brocka babies," a group of actors who frequently worked with Brocka. Throughout his career, he has also collaborated with prominent directors such as Ishmael Bernal, Chito S.
