John Richard Jeremy Burnham (28 May 1931 – 31 December 2020) was a notable British television actor and screenwriter whose career spanned the 1960s and 1970s. He made his acting debut in the 1950s, featuring in a variety of beloved British television series, including memorable roles in episodes of The Avengers such as "The Fear Merchants," "The Town of No Return," and "The Forget-Me-Knot," along with appearances in The Saint and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) in 1969.

In the mid-1970s, Burnham shifted his focus from acting to screenwriting. Alongside Trevor Ray, he co-created the acclaimed children’s science fiction horror serial Children of the Stones, which aired in 1977 and was later novelized the same year. Their collaboration continued with the lesser-known five-episode children's serial Raven in 1977, which also received a novelization. In 2012, Burnham released a sequel novel titled Return to the Stones, later published in print in 2015.

Additionally, he penned the children’s tennis-themed novel Break Point, which was adapted into a BBC television series in 1982, where he took on the role of tennis coach Frank Abbott. Burnham's writing credits also include episodes for The Avengers, as well as shows like Minder and Peak Practice. He passed away in December 2020 at the age of 89.
