Glen Travis Campbell (April 22, 1936 - August 8, 2017) was an acclaimed American singer-songwriter, guitarist, television personality, and occasional actor, whose contributions to country pop music earned him numerous accolades, including Grammy and Dove Awards, as well as a Golden Globe nomination. He gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s with a string of chart-topping hits, and he was also the host of a popular CBS variety show titled The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour.

Over a remarkable career spanning five decades, Campbell released over 70 albums, selling an impressive 45 million records worldwide. His discography includes 12 Gold albums, 4 Platinum albums, and a Double-Platinum album. Among an astounding 74 chart appearances in the country music scene, 27 of his singles made it to the Top 10. Iconic tracks from his repertoire include "Gentle on My Mind," "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Wichita Lineman," "Galveston," "Rhinestone Cowboy," and "Southern Nights."

In 1967, he made headlines by securing four Grammy Awards in both country and pop music categories, with two accolades for "Gentle on My Mind" and two for "By the Time I Get to Phoenix." Campbell was honored as Male Vocalist of the Year by both the Country Music Association (CMA) and the Academy of Country Music (ACM), and he received the prestigious CMA Entertainer of the Year award in 1968. In 1969, he was chosen by legendary actor John Wayne to star in the film True Grit, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Newcomer, as he also performed the title song nominated for an Academy Award.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the genre, Campbell was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
