Wyndham Standing, born Charles Wyndham Standing on August 23, 1880, in London, England, was a prominent English film actor whose career spanned over three decades. He graced the silver screen in 131 films from 1915 until 1948, becoming a cherished leading man during the silent film era. Notably, he co-starred with Ronald Colman in the now-lost classic, *The Dark Angel* (1925), showcasing his talents alongside some of the most celebrated actors of the time.

Standing's versatility shone in sound films as well, particularly in his notable role as the commanding officer in *Hell's Angels* (1930). In this film, he delivered a striking performance, portraying a character exasperated by the cowardice of Ben Lyon and James Hall just before they embark on a perilous bombing mission.

Coming from a theatrical lineage, Standing was the son of esteemed actor Herbert Standing (1846–1923) and the brother of several actors, including Jack Standing, Sir Guy Standing, Herbert Standing Jr., and Percy Standing. He also served as the uncle to actresses Joan Standing and Kay Hammond. Wyndham Standing passed away on February 1, 1963, in Los Angeles, California, leaving behind a legacy marked by his contributions to early cinema and his impactful performances.
