Kumi Mizuno, originally named Maya Igarashi, is a distinguished Japanese actress known for her significant contributions to the film industry, particularly in the realm of kaiju cinema. Born on January 1, 1939, Mizuno gained prominence in the 1960s through her performances in several iconic Toho productions. Among her most memorable roles are her portrayals in films such as Matango, Frankenstein vs. Baragon, Invasion of Astro-Monster, Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, and The War of the Gargantuas.

Her performance as the Xilien agent Namikawa in Invasion of Astro-Monster remains particularly celebrated, earning her a dedicated following among monster movie enthusiasts. Mizuno's impact on the genre was so profound that Toho invited her back decades later, leading her to reprise a role in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla in 2002, followed by another appearance in Godzilla: Final Wars in 2004.
