Rick Ross
William Leonard Roberts II, born on January 28, 1976, is widely recognized by his stage name, Rick Ross. He is an influential American rapper and record executive who gained prominence in the music industry with his debut single, "Hustlin'," released in 2006. Prior to this breakthrough, Ross attracted attention from major labels, including Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment and Irv Gotti's Murder Inc., ultimately signing a lucrative deal with Jay-Z at Def Jam Recordings.
That same year, Ross launched his first album, *Port of Miami*, which made an impressive debut at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 187,000 copies in its opening week. His sophomore effort, *Trilla*, released in 2008, similarly achieved top-chart status.
In addition to his solo work, Ross was a key member of the hip-hop collective Triple C's, alongside Gunplay and Torch, starting in 2005. In 2009, he established the Maybach Music Group, a label that has released several of his albums, including *Deeper Than Rap* (2009), *Teflon Don* (2010), and *Mastermind* (2014), among others. His tenth studio album, *Port of Miami 2*, launched in August 2019, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200.
Rick Ross has also been instrumental in promoting other artists, signing notable talents such as Meek Mill, Wale, and French Montana. In 2012, he was recognized by MTV as the Hottest MC in the Game, further solidifying his status in the hip-hop community.
