Randy Stuart
Randy Stuart, originally named Elizabeth Shaubell, was born on October 24, 1924, and passed away on July 20, 1996. She made her mark as an American actress renowned for her roles in both film and television during the 1940s and 1950s. Among her most memorable performances is that of Louise Carey in the 1957 science-fiction classic The Incredible Shrinking Man, which was later honored by the Library of Congress as a film of significant cultural importance.
Stuart's journey in the film industry began after a screen test for the play The Women, leading to her contract with 20th Century Fox. She made her film debut in an uncredited role in The Foxes of Harrow (1947). The following year, she gained recognition as Peggy, a savvy secretary in the comedy Sitting Pretty, and portrayed the wife of a war veteran in Apartment for Peggy, starring William Holden.
In 1949, Stuart showcased her talent alongside Cary Grant in I Was a Male War Bride and appeared in the psychological thriller Whirlpool. Her filmography continued to grow with notable appearances in All About Eve (1950) and I Can Get It For You Wholesale (1951), which was pivotal for her career.
Transitioning to television, she appeared in the western series Cimarron City and starred in the film Man from God's Country (1958). Later, in the late 1970s, she contributed to her community as the director of alumni affairs at Cal State Northridge. Stuart's personal life included multiple marriages, with her last spouse being Ernest Dineen Wallis until his death in 1982. She succumbed to lung cancer in Bakersfield, California, at the age of 71.
