István Szilágyi
István Szilágyi, born on December 7, 1937, in Gyoma, Hungary, is a distinguished actor celebrated for his impactful contributions to Hungarian theater and film. After completing his studies at the Academy of Theater and Film in 1961, he began his professional journey at the Géza Gárdonyi Theater in Eger.
Throughout his career, Szilágyi has been a prominent figure in various theatrical companies. He was part of the Amusement Stage from 1965 to 1973, followed by a stint at the National Theater of Pécs in 1975. A year later, he joined the renowned Vígszínház, where he continued to develop his craft. In 1979, he became associated with Mafilm, contributing to the Hungarian film industry. His cinematic debut occurred in 1959 with the film "Burning Window," but he gained widespread recognition in 1968 for his portrayal of Sípo in the popular television series "Bors."
In addition to his stage and screen work, Szilágyi became a familiar face in the 1990s through his role in a Lotto advertisement, where he depicted an exuberant lottery winner. His career spanned several decades, and he was an integral member of the Győr National Theater from 1998 until his retirement in 2016.
Szilágyi is married to sculptor Joleny Humenyánszky, and together they have a son, Péter Szilágyi. His legacy in the performing arts continues to inspire many.
