Väino Laes

Väino Laes, born on September 26, 1951, in Jõhvi, is a prominent Estonian actor celebrated for his contributions to the performing arts. He completed his education at the Tallinn State Conservatory in 1974, marking the beginning of a vibrant career in theatre. Between 1978 and 1989, Laes showcased his talent at the Rakvere Theatre, before moving on to the Estonian Drama Theatre from 1989 to 1995. Since 1995, he has been a key figure at Vanalinnastuudio. In addition to his theatrical work, Laes has appeared in various films and was nominated for the prestigious European Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1992, highlighting his versatility and skill.

Beyond his professional achievements, Laes has maintained a long-term partnership with fellow actress Erika Kaljusaar, a relationship that began in 1980.
