Ramon Bieri
Ramon Bieri, born on June 16, 1929, was a distinguished American actor known for his robust presence and versatile performances. Recognized for his portrayal of gruff characters, Bieri often took on roles as rugged westerners, tough cops, and hardened gangsters. A decorated veteran of the Korean War, he embarked on his acting journey in 1954, gracing both on and off-Broadway stages. One of his most notable performances was in the 1975 production of 'Death of a Salesman.' In the later years of his career, he was a prominent figure at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, where he notably played the stern captain in the 1995 rendition of 'Mr. Roberts.'
Bieri made his television debut in 1962, eventually becoming a familiar face on the small screen with numerous guest appearances throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He also starred in the short-lived NBC sitcom 'Joe's World' in 1979, where he portrayed a Detroit house painter juggling family life with five children. His film credits include significant roles in acclaimed works such as 'Badlands' (1973), 'The Conversation' (1974), 'Sorcerer' (1977), and 'Reds' (1981). Beyond his professional life, Bieri enjoyed fishing and sailing. He passed away from cancer in May 2001 in Woodland Hills, California, at the age of 71.
