Plot
After a space satellite returns to Earth, the small town of Piedmont, New Mexico, is devastated as nearly all its residents are discovered dead. In response, the head of Project Scoop, a US Air Force initiative, declares a state of emergency. A team of distinguished scientists, led by Dr. Jeremy Stone, rushes to a high-security lab to identify and contain the mysterious organism. Their investigation reveals that only two individuals—a six-month-old baby and an elderly alcoholic—survived. As the team delves deeper, they remain oblivious to the fact that the pathogen has already mutated, posing a lethal threat within the lab, which is equipped with a nuclear self-destruct mechanism to prevent contamination.
